Found this neat little development last week that's growing by the day.. Apple seem to be green lighting more and more apps developed using this framework!

Android, Blackberry and iPhone are supported. So if you're into apps and know how to use html, css and javascript... get yourself over to phonegap.com and download the sdk for whatever platform you want to develop and start playing with Eclipse (A netbeans based IDE) for java EE and jave ME etc.. sounds confusing eh.. time to do you research and dig into the world of mobile.

The animated capers of Robby Bluetooth- a cartoon character created and distributed by greenfield mobile on behalf of South Wales Police- has been short-listed for the national Guardian GC awards.

Now in its 13th year, the GC Awards reward excellence in the use of technology to raise awareness in the public services. They were established to highlight the excellent work done by public servants across the UK, and to disseminate the projects' contributions to best practice.

Andrew McCarthy from South Wales Police who with the help of greenfield media has spearheaded the use of mobile technology within the police force has been shortlisted for the prestigious Innovator Of The Year award.

"The reaction to Robby has been very positive with his ability to reach all levels of the community, deliver a message and form a talking point around the table to discuss some of the issues Robby does. I’ve seen Robby being delivered at events and watched closely as friends swap and watch the message over and over again. At our Christmas lights turn on 2008 we used Robby to deliver a burglary message and I was quite surprised when I had young people come and ask me what extra bits they could do to make sure that Robby stayed away from their homes and kept the Christmas presents safe under the tree." Andrew McCarthy.

What a good way of sharing files and backing up data.. 2GB limit in a free account and you can have off site storage of work, photos, videos etc.. sweet.
You can even invite friends to share the same folders and work on the files remotely. What's also good it that the system keeps a backup of all files. Your work is archived for every instance of a change you make. So this means if a version of your file gets corrupted, you can just revert to an earlier verison.. check it out Dropbox

Stumbled accross this really nice tutorial.. we'll not so much a tutorial but a given if you have fireworks installed.
If you are catering for web browsers and come accross the png transparency issue with the wonderfull IE6 (yes it still exists, so we sort of have to cater for it.. sort of..) then the tribulations of using a .htc file hack for behaviour state of png image.. maybe this is a good place to start thinking again about what you really need. PNG8 can actually solve the need for hacks. Check out the link to see what I mean PNG8 solving transparency in IE6.

moonoo have been very busy working with South Wales Police, sending out content via Bluetooth. The police have requested the assitance of moonoo and it's umbrella company greenfield media. South Wales Police are campaigning heavily to raise awareness of crime to a youth audience and what better way to do it than via their beloved mobile phones. moonoo have developed systems to broadcast messages to users phones using bluetooth wireless technology and have successfully managed campaigns for the National Eisteddfod, BBC and Media Wales during the Six Nations matches in the Millenium stadium. The South Wales Police project has a character attached to it to re-enforce the issues to the youth - Robby as he is called, is the catalist to all things bad. The youth will recognise the errors of Robby's ways through the video's and posters used in the campaign.. check out a sample of the adventures of Robby here.. watch latest campaign animatic
